On April 18, the Community Green Space welcomed the start of 2017 outdoor events with the TAG VISION Spring Craft Party hosted by NeighborWorks of Western Vermont and Rutland Recreation.
Over 70 residents came out to paint rocks and garden stakes at the 113 Library Ave Community Green Space (formerly a blighted, vacant building) and enjoy hot dogs. Kids played with hula hoops, frisbees, and a slackline provided by Rutland Recreation.
Neighbors stepped in to lend helping hands throughout the event, with Lea bringing extra paint and helping with set-up and Scott and Ray becoming grill-masters on the spot. April Cioffi of Rutland Recreation hand-crafted and fired the clay garden stakes.
A HUGE thank you to our volunteers, especially to April Cioffi of Rutland Recreation, our AmeriCorps Members Bianca & Maggie, our staff members Morgan Overable and Shannon Kennelly, the Housing Trust’s Pam Favreau, community leader Stacie Griffin, super volunteer Patti Lancaster, and NWWVT board members Jen Yakunovich and Cindy Adams for their enthusiasm and generous donation of a beautiful spring afternoon.
The TAG Spring Craft Party was the public launch of the TAG VISION Project, or “Together, Art Grows,” a youth-focused initiative that aims to build community and neighborhood pride through the creation and installment of public art. TAG VISION is a summer-long initiative sponsored by NeighborWorks and generous funders.
Attend our next event, the TAG VISION Community Input session on April 26th at the Rutland United Methodist Church from 6-8 PM!
